A few months before the first lockdown, I found myself having dinner at a long table with a bunch of smart, capable, and enjoyably mouthy women.
Any time you bring a crew like this together, eventually someone starts banging on the table and shouting,
“Why do we put up with this nonsense?”
(Real talk, the odds are good that person is me.)
It might be business nonsense, patriarchal nonsense, environmental nonsense, racist nonsense. It all tends to go together.
That table was the speaker’s dinner for an event called the Slow Business Adventure (which, I’m hoping, we’ll be able to attend live in 2023).
And it was the first inkling of a new direction I felt pulled toward, after a great decade with Copyblogger Media.
Announcing our new flagship
I’ve put together some great projects since that night, and made some amazing friends.
A ton of writing and thinking and talking and collaboration went into the launch of the site you’re looking at right now.
This took way too long (and honestly, I’ve never seen a strong site come together that didn’t feel like it was taking way too long), but I’m really happy it’s here.
I call it “our” flagship because my intention is to make the new site much more than The Sonia Show. Which is what Remarkable Communication has been for a long time.
Nothing wrong with a one-woman show (hey, I’ve got tickets to Hannah Gadsby’s), but the long table is long for a reason.
We are so much stronger and wiser when we are together.
Taking inspiration from Copyblogger, which was always an amazing watering hole of different voices unified by common interests, Creative Fierce is a place for more of us to come together to share insights, advice, and a little inspiration.
P.S. Why a new site?
Some people have been asking me why I’m launching a new site rather than keeping the old one going.
Remarkable Communication has been a great home for a lot of years, but it was always a side project. And as I said earlier, it was much more about me and my individual vision.
I’m definitely not going to throw Remarkable Communication (or my vision) away. But Creative Fierce is going to be my full-time hustle now. It’s a space to be more focused and strategic, and to build something that I believe will be much bigger than any one person.
The spiffy site design doesn’t hurt, either. 🙂
(That design comes courtesy of Mai Themes, and I’ll let you know more about that collaboration later.)
What comes next?
I tell clients all the time that even twins have to get born one at a time.
And then I keep trying to give birth to quintuplets all at once.
So here’s the plan for the next few months:
- Next up is the relaunch of my Remarkable Writer’s Workshop, for content creators who want to make a greater impact with their writing. We talked about that last week, and I’ll be getting you more details shortly.
- And after that, I’ll be launching a powerfully fierce small group mastermind of ambitious women who want to grapple with next-level business issues. (Wow, that’s a lot of words.) That one definitely won’t be for everyone, but I will share some details once we have them worked up.
- Then later this year, the Content Flagship workshop will see a re-release as well, probably in the summer.
- And finally, I’ll be talking a lot more about our no-FOMO, zero-overwhelm group that exists purely to help you get important work done.
But for now, let’s just bask in the glow of that first baby. 🙂
One thing you’ll be able to do at the new site is to revisit earlier issues of The Fierce. I thought I’d start with these recent ones:
The 12 Laws of Fierce Business, part 1 and The 12 Laws of Fierce Business, part 2.
I hope you’ll poke around and explore the site a bit. Comments are very welcome! And if you see something that looks a little weird (there’s always something), feel free to lemme know and I’ll get it fixed.
Coming to Phoenix for CEX?
By the way, I’m finalizing my travel arrangements for the Creator Economy Expo in Phoenix in early May. I added a day to my travel so I’d have time to hang out and get to know (or reconnect) with more people.
I think the pent-up energy of the past few years (plus a line up of really good people) is going to make this an amazing event. If you’d like to come and haven’t picked up a ticket, you can use simone as a discount code to keep a few bucks in your pocket. 🙂 Here’s the link to learn more about it: CEX 2022
Looking forward to seeing you here in our new space!
