A few months ago, I was humming along running my projects when I got an email:
“You keep popping into my brain, so I know it’s time to catch up. Want to grab a time for a quick call?”
That email was from Pamela Wilson, who I’ve known for a long, long time. We worked together at Copyblogger, but we met long before that.
I got myself onto her calendar, and from there … a lot of things changed very fast.
I won’t make you walk through the entire timeline: the short version is that Pamela was looking to focus on her consulting practice, which meant she was looking for someone to take the reins on her Offer Accelerator program.
(Spoiler: I said, “Oh hell yeah.” I’ll talk about why below.)
But first:
What’s the Offer Accelerator?
Office Accelerator is a program that Pamela set up to walk business owners through the process of developing a high-value offer.
It’s not designed for business beginners, but for folks who are already serving an audience and want to up their game.
It’s a great fit for:
- Content creators who have had trouble converting their reach into business results
- A business owner who wants to help their customers in more profound ways
- “Feast or famine” freelancers who are hovering on the edge of burnout
- Folks looking to convert their side hustle into full-time revenue
- Mid-career professionals making a pivot into entrepreneurship
- Business owners who have trouble gaining momentum because they’re overwhelmed or distracted by too many shiny objects
It’s not a good fit for:
- Folks who are new to business
- Someone who wants to jump to a profitable four-hour work week without putting significant work in
- Folks who aren’t ready to commit to the process, including working through the uncomfortable bits (I cast no shade, we’ve all been there)
The Accelerator is designed to get you an offer that converts to consistent revenue of $10,000 – $20,000 a month — or potentially more, depending on your business model and the kind of problems you solve for your audience.
(If you want a few more details about what that process looks like, here’s the application page.)
Why I said “hell, yeah”
Someone asked me recently why I said yes to Pamela’s proposal, rather than creating something of my own from scratch.
Great question! There are a lot of answers, but here are the top three:
#1: Pamela and I are on the same business page
As I said, Pamela and I have known each other for a few decades now, and she and I are very much on the same page in terms of business ethics, values, and approach.
Because she and I have worked so closely together in the past, I know that she doesn’t try to take cheap shortcuts, or promise “magic bean” tactics that fail most of the time.
Although we have different personalities, we see the business world in a very similar way.
#2: Pamela and I are different in some ways that are extremely useful
I’m a creative magpie. I have the kind of mind that collects lots of bits and pieces. This is incredibly useful for a writer, and it’s always been a strength in my businesses.
Pamela is the queen of focus. She excels at systems, processes, and cutting through excessive complexity.
Also, when Pamela builds a process, you know it’s going to be 🤌. And the Offer Accelerator rests on the rock-solid, proven process that she built.
#3: I already had my eye on that program …
To tell you the truth, I’d had my eye on Offer Accelerator for many months.
Because it contains the single most important ingredient in any offer:
👉 A clear, well-defined, and credible client transformation that can be delivered sustainably.
Since I sold my interest in Copyblogger Media, I’ve been in experimentation mode. Which has been a ton of fun! I’ve created programs I’m very proud of, and made wonderful connections with new clients.
But even the most devoted magpie needs to settle down at some point.
My 2022 was all about launching experiments and gathering the data to build a focused, sustainable, and decluttered business model for 2023.
And then that model knocked on my door.
I don’t believe in manifestation stuff (at all), but … that was kind of weird/cool. 🙂
If you think the Accelerator might be right for you
The first step is to fill out a simple (just six questions) application. I evaluate these personally.
- Apply for the Offer Accelerator here (six questions, Sonia will review it personally)
The main thing I’m looking for is that you’d be able to make use of the program to get true benefit. If that’s not what I see, I’ll point you to another resource (if I know of one).
The program works on a cohort model, bringing in five new folks a month.
It includes lots of coaching time with me, as well as my feedback on the materials you create to move your offer forward. (Landing pages, opt-in, sales pages, content plans … all the good stuff.)
Fun fact: If you join us in the first quarter, you’ll get coaching time with me and with Pamela, as she wraps up her final cohort and mine begins.
In fact, I’m already in the coaching sessions now, and it’s been really productive and exciting.
What else to know about 2023
I’m going to be talking a lot more about offers in 2023! That’s going to be here on Creative Fierce, on the newsletter (sign up below), on LinkedIn, and other places around the web.
Because offers have always been the cornerstone of business. Get them right, and you’ll see momentum.
And on the flip side, if your offers are confusing or otherwise a little off, you’ll struggle.
Will I still write about mindset, ADHD-friendly productivity, writing, content strategy, and values? Absolutely. Those are all a major part of who I am as a founder and a teacher, and I don’t think I could give them up.
But if you hate content about business offers, I’ll understand if you mosey another direction. No harm, no foul.
Whatever direction you move toward in 2023, I hope it’s filled with satisfaction, true self care, and a sense of purpose.
Lots of love to you and yours!
